In our realm’s current struggle between darkness and light, there are tales of those who vanished beyond the veil — heroes cast into realms where even time refused to follow.
One such figure is said to have returned from that endless nothing, bearing a relic not meant for our world.
Embedded in their shield was a fragment of pure void — darkness given physical form.
 
II. The Nature of the Fragment
It does not reflect, absorb, or radiate; it consumes.
Those who stand near it report a thinning in their thoughts, as though their minds begin to forget themselves.
Some whisper it is not merely darkness but the absence of creation itself — a wound left in the fabric of existence, perhaps the scar of a celestial battle or the death of a god.
Even our forge, which has tamed fire, storm, and star, trembles when this fragment draws near.
 
III. The Journey Through Nothing
From what little their companions could speak before their minds broke, the void was not empty.
Something dwelled within it — immense, patient, aware.
Whether god or ghost, it watched them, and when they returned, it let one walk free… carrying its mark.
 
IV. The Forging
You don’t have to tell us if you are the one who brought this back, but it was difficult not to notice when you approached our forge…
that you did not cast a shadow behind you.
When the fragment was placed upon the anvil, all flame died, and the air grew still.
To manipulate it, we were forced to create a hammer from the artifact itself — nothing else would touch it.
Using a conjured fire of the highest magic, we shaped it into this truly unique relic.
When the final strike fell, whispers echoed from the flames — faint, pleading, and not in any known tongue.
Among the ashes lay a tiny fragment left behind.
We encased it in a heavily warded gold enclosure, for we could not know what it might bring… or become.
